Elan Live
Tuesday, 2nd March
Applications are invited from visual artists for the 2021 - 22 Artists Residency programme in the Elan Valley, mid-Wales. Three residencies are available: one for August-December 2021, one for January-June 2022 and one for August-December 2022. Through the arts we want to better understand, explore and engage with nature, water and issues around sustainability, as well as the rural/urban dynamic. The Artists’ Residencies aim to achieve this.
Mae mis Mawrth yn cyhoeddi dechrau nid yn unig un, ond dau ‘wanwyn’! Mae’r gwanwyn meteorolegol yn dechrau ar y 1af o’r mis a’r gwanwyn astronomaidd yn dechrau ar yr 20fed o Fawrth. Y gwahaniaeth rhwng y ddau yw bod y gwanwyn astronomaidd (neu Gyhydnos y Gwanwyn) yn gysylltiedig â lleoliad orbit y Ddaear mewn cysylltiad â’r Haul, ac yn nodi’r eiliad y mae’r Haul yn croesi cyhydedd wybrennol dychmygol yn y wybren, sy’n uniongyrchol uwchben cywerth y Ddaear, ac wedi’i leoli 90 gradd oddi wrth pegynau’r Ddaear. Seilir y gwanwyn meteorolegol ar galedr Gregori a chylchrediad blynyddol y tymereddau.
March heralds the start of not one, but two 'springs'! Meteorological spring starts on the 1st of the month and astronomical spring starts on 20th March. The difference between the two is that the astronomical spring (or Spring Equinox) is related to the position of the Earth’s orbit in relation to the Sun and marks the moment the Sun crosses the imaginary celestial equator in the sky that is directly above the earth’s equivalent and lies 90 degrees from the Earth’s poles. Meteorological Spring is based on the Gregorian calendar and the annual cycle of temperatures.
