WE'RE OPEN 364 DAYS (EXCEPT CHRISTMAS DAY)!
Escape to Elan! We are a world away from the relentless pace of modern life but close enough to make a memorable day trip from Birmingham (where much of our water travels to!), Cardiff and Manchester.
Our Visitor Centre below Caban Coch Dam is a good place to learn about the remarkable building of the dams and the alternative ways to explore. There is a gift shop with useful maps, local produce and mementos of Elan. We also have a spacious cafe alongside the River Elan which serves homemade snacks and meals.
If you are interested in coming as part of a larger group by coach it is always worth getting in touch ahead of your visit. We are always pleased to welcome groups, including schools, and have dedicated Rangers who will make sure you have a visit to remember.
Dogs: We welcome dogs at the Elan Valley providing they are well behaved and under very close control or on a lead. Similarly to the rest of the Valley, around the Visitor Centre there are sheep, young children and bikes, meaning that a lead is essential even in the confines around the Centre itself.
We need to consider all our visitors and as such, we do not welcome dogs or other animals into the building itself, with the exception of Assistance and Guide dogs which are permitted into the Centre's information desk, shop and café.
We provide external seating, water bowls and tie points where dogs need to be left outside momentarily. We appreciate that some owners may feel that this is unfair where they have well behaved dogs. Please ensure that you clear up after your dog and either take the bag away with you or place it in the bins at the Visitor Centre.
We hope that our visitors will understand and respect our position. We want everyone to enjoy their visit to our wonderful site.
