Accommodation in the Elan Valley

If you are planning a short break or holiday in Rhayader and the Elan Valley there is no better place to stay than right here on the Elan estate!

The Elan Valley Trust have  a range of self catering cottages set in the heart of the estate. But for shorter stays, you can enjoy the charming Penbont House Tearoom, newly renovated in 2019, which provides excellent 4 star Visit Wales, bed and breakfast accommodation nestled close to the Pen-y-Garreg dam.

Also, as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded project; Elan Links, the Elan Valley Trust have renovated the Cwmclyd Farmstead into bunkhouse accommodation. This is now open and you are able to book your stay at the property, (see the property header to the left of this page) for availability.   Income generated will go back into the project.

There are lots of reasons why you should holiday on the estate, but here are just a few advantages  of immersing yourself in the Elan Valley:

Walking/Cycling Holidays

Our properties are close to the dams and reservoirs so you and your family can live and breathe the peace and tranquillity of this spectacular area. Whether you're looking for accommodation for one or two weeks or just a long weekend, our properties are a perfect base to explore mid Wales and enjoy some stunning walking and cycling holidays.

Astronomy & Star Gazing Breaks

The estate has been awarded International Dark Sky Park status making it an ideal spot for star gazers and astronomers alike; enjoy the stars in all their glory and the abundance of nocturnal wildlife across the Elan Valley. This fantastic timelapse was taken by guests at Penglaneinon.

Pet-Friendly Accommodation

We offer pet-friendly accommodation; all of our cottages accept dogs and Penbont House accept dogs in the tearooms and in the ground floor bedroom.

But last by no means least; Peace and Tranquillity

The Elan Valley offers a brilliant escape from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. Most of the Elan Valley is off-grid and has little mobile reception or wifi and as such it is a real opportunity to leave the modern technology world behind and take stock of the landscape and world we live in.
