Join Elan Links' newest artists in residence for a fun, free workshop on capturing woodlands through exciting technologies.

The workshop will include examining a piece of forest nearby, and digitally capturing it using a variety of tools and techniques. The captured images will then be used to create a virtual reality environment.

Workshop plan:

Introduction to virtual reality using forests captured in the Netherlands and the Elan Valley using VR goggles and an introduction to different methods of capturing 3D images.

After lunch, walk to the woodlands to learn how to scan and capture forests and vegetation

Finish with a short session on transforming captured materials into 3D assets.

The workshop is part of an artist in residence project and will continue in December. The materials created in the workshop will be used in the final presentation at the end of the residency program.

No previous knowledge is required. If you have a camera you are comfortable using, feel free to bring along. Sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing recommended for woodland session.
