Join our Rangers at one of our Dam Open Days during the Easter Holidays - an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. You’ll enjoy a bird's-eye view of the dam wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.

An Upland Ramble / Taith Gerdded yr Ucheldir

Location: Penbont Car Park SN915674
A Powys Ramblers Event. Join Graham as he leads you on a spectacular and energetic 9.5-mile walk in the hills of the Elan Valley. This is primarily a moorland walk crossing between Cefn Rhydoldog and Crugyn Ci from the Penbont car-park to the mountain road and Mein-serth. After crossing the Elan the walk climbs steeply before opening out onto moorland and passing a local burial site. After visiting the trig point the route drops down into the head of the Nant Gwynllyn Valley with its waterfalls and lake.
Archery Taster Session

Hour long sessions to try your hand at archery, £15 per person, minimum age 8, please wear long sleeves.

Platforms, bridges, unusual obstacles, a zip line and an adrenaline jump – all in a stunning setting alongside Caban Coch Reservoir.
You don’t need experience or to be super fit, however you must be over 1.4m tall, have a waist of less than 43” and be able to climb a rope ladder.
You will also need transport, stout shoes and appropriate clothing.
Kayaking on the Reservoir

Hit the water and get a different view of the Valley from a two person kayak.
After a safety briefing, head off around the reservoir in the company of your instructor, and learn about the history of the dams on the way.

A Powys Ramblers Event. Join Alan as he leads you on a pleasant and scenic four mile walk in the hills of the Claerwen Valley. Walk a steady but gently-inclined forestry track that leads to elevate views of Caban Coch Reservoir. A further short climb leads above the woodland onto a gentle grass path with stunning views over the Claerwen Valley, with a route that falls gently down to the Welsh longhouse and back to the start. Community Drop In Day

We will be holding a public and community drop-in day at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre on Saturday 11th of June from 10am until 4pm.
Join the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water team for a tea or coffee and to ask us any questions on the Elan Valley. No need to book, just turn up on the day.

Look Across Wales / Edrych ar Draws Cymru

Location: Dolymynach Car Park SN 901616
A moderate 7 mile walk with one off track grassland section and steep downslope. Starting at Dol y Mynach car park, we walk up the Rhiwnant Valley and make our way to the track heading towards the highest point on the Elan Estate, Drygarn Fawr, at 641m above sea level. Weather permitting, we will be able to see the Irish Sea, and turning our heads we will be able to view the Black Mountains on the England/Wales border, therefore looking along a 55 mile diagonal line from one side of Wales to the other.
