Gynon Gander

Chris Franks will lead this 9 mile walk in the upper Claerwen, which mostly has good walking conditions with a few rough patches. Proceed along the scenic Arban Valley to the edge of the Moel Prysgau plantation. We will then walk to the summit of Crug Gynon, visiting the cairn that has dramatic views of the mighty Llyn Gynon to the north and the source of the Towey River to the south. Walking northeast, we overlook the bog of Bryn Trapau then proceed back along Esgair Garthen with stunning elevated views of the Claerwen Reservoir and the most remote working farm in Wales.

A Walk to the Dambusters Dam

Want to explore a little bit of history? Join us on the 4 mile walk that takes you as close to the reservoir as you can get before reaching Nant y Gro. The walk led by Chris from Powys Ramblers involves a strenuous climb to Ty’n y Pant with great views before dropping down to the road and returning through woodland. All on good tracks suitable for families; all welcome. Meet at the Visitor Centre.

Pen y Garreg Peregrination
