See some amazing views from the Valley’s tallest mountain. Experience the stunning scenery from the top of Drygarn Fawr, the tranquillity of Llyn Carw and visit two historic standing stones with Powys Ramblers member Graham. A steady climb and rough moorland walking demands a reasonable degree of fitness on this 10 mile walk. Meet at Llannerch y Cawr car park.

Join our Rangers at one of our big Dam Open Days - an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. You’ll enjoy a bird's-eye view of the dam wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.
Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance. There is no need to book, simply turn up anytime between 1pm and 4pm.

An opportunity to visit a wealth of historical and ancient sites within a scenic, 8 mile walk. David James and Vic Pardoe will take you on a walk of discovery as they show you a wealth of disused mines, prehistorical sites and an old inn! This will be a strenuous walk. Chris Franks will lead this 9 mile walk in the upper Claerwen, which mostly has good walking conditions with a few rough patches. Proceed along the scenic Arban Valley to the edge of the Moel Prysgau plantation. We will then walk to the summit of Crug Gynon, visiting the cairn that has dramatic views of the mighty Llyn Gynon to the north and the source of the Towey River to the south. Walking northeast, we overlook the bog of Bryn Trapau then proceed back along Esgair Garthen with stunning elevated views of the Claerwen Reservoir and the most remote working farm in Wales.

Want to explore a little bit of history? Join us on the 4 mile walk that takes you as close to the reservoir as you can get before reaching Nant y Gro. The walk led by Chris from Powys Ramblers involves a strenuous climb to Ty’n y Pant with great views before dropping down to the road and returning through woodland. All on good tracks suitable for families; all welcome. Meet at the Visitor Centre.
