A joint event with Brecon Beacons Park Society. Join Dilys Harlow and Andrew Leonard as they lead the second part of the Monks Trod linear route from Abbey Cwmhir to Pont-ar-Elan. This 12.5 mile walk will take you along minor roads, tracks and rough paths, following a route used by the Cistercians. £5 donation. Booking is essential due to minibus to start. Join Elan Valley Trustee, Bob Vaughan on a 5 mile walk to explore the history and remains of Cwm Elan Lead Mines. You will also be able to see the stabilising works. Meet at Nantgwyllt Church car park.

Join our Rangers at one of our big Dam Open Days - an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. You’ll enjoy a bird's-eye view of the dam wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.
Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance. There is no need to book, simply turn up anytime between 1pm and 4pm.
There are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels. Children should be carefully supervised at all times.

Richard will lead a scenic short 4 mile walk over rough, hilly and boggy ground to include the Bothy at Lluest Cwmbach. Meet at Pont ar Elan car park.
Tue 3 Sep / 9.30am
Chris Franks will lead this 10.5 mile challenging walk, taking in the mines of the Rhiwnant Valley, passing Llyn Carw and on to the summit of Drygarn Fawr, then past the Mermaid Pool and the Poison Hole. Please bring a packed lunch. Meet at Llannerch y Cawr car park.

A gentle 3 mile walk following the line of the old railway from the Visitor Centre to Cwmdauddwr, looking at historical features of interest along the way.
A lift back to the Visitor Centre will be available afterwards.

Join local historians David James and Vic Pardoe for a fascinating visual talk about the rich and varied history of human presence in the Elan Valley, dating back to 4000 BC. Their passion about local history will inspire you! Meet at the Elan Valley Hotel.

A 4 mile guided walk to learn about the area, including the remains of Nant y Gro Dam which was used for tests before the WW2 Dambusters Raid.
There is a steep climb of 40 metres up the steps to the top of the dam and then a very steep 140 metre climb.

Chris will lead a moderate 6 mile walk which starts along Garreg Ddu to Tynllidiart before climbing steeply to Moelfryn, then across rough ground to Nant Brythgwm, crossing the dam and returning along the Elan Valley Trail. No dogs allowed. Meet at Penbont car park.

Yvonne Gulley will lead this moderate 7 mile circular walk from Pont ar Elan, taking in the valleys of the Wye and the Elan, with a short climb to the top of Moelfryn. Please bring a packed lunch. Meet at Pont ar Elan car park.
