50th Anniversary for the Reservoir Roundabout

The 'Roundabout Team' have declared the 2017 Reservoir Roundabout another great success following another large turnout for this annual challenge event aimed at long distance walkers and runners held in the Elan Valley.  The walk was held on the 7th January and marked the 50th Anniversary of the 1st Reservoir Roundabout in 1967.

The event comprises of 2 routes, a 13 mile and a more challenging 20 mile distance.  The weather contributed to a turnout of 109 competitors, the event enjoyed a dry but cloudy day where participants enjoyed the beautiful upland scenery of the Elan Valley including the spectacular sight of 3 of the 5 dams overflowing on the 20 mile route.

This year the event raised £1,100 for local causes, and the proceeds from the walk this year will go to St John's Ambulance, Wales Air Ambulance & towards heart defribulators for Rhayader & District and Rhayader Community Support.

The organisers wish to thank the Elan Valley Trust for permitting the event to take place, the St John's crew with their continued support and presence at the event every year and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for opening up the Visitor Centre and cafe to accommodate the early start.
