Elan Valley is a place of peace and tranquillity - but it never stops. There is always something to see, whether it is the natural changes of the seasons to organised events within the Estate. We will keep you posted of planned events in this section of the site.

Find out about the mythology around Celtic Constellations. David Williams, producer of the Celtic Constellations star chart, will provide his interpretation of the constellations.
As one of only three internationally dark sky accredited areas in Wales, the Elan Valley offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the night sky.
This free talk will offer an interpretation of the stars.
It will talk place in the Rhayader Museum and Gallery.

Learn about the history of Caban Coch Dam, the workers’ village and other stories on this easy one mile walk.
Meet at the Visitor Centre.

Learn applique techniques to create imaginary worlds. The finished articles will be used to create a fabric hanging which will be displayed at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre during the dark skies day on 29 October.
Join Cath Allan throughout the afternoon to be part of this.
This free workshop will take place at Rhayader Museum and Gallery. It is open for anyone to join in from 12pm.

Join Sorcha and Janice, Local Wildlife Guides, to celebrate “National Insect Week”. You will have the opportunity to learn the skills required to seek out some of our truly fascinating insect species. Bring your camera for pictures and suitable clothing/sun cream/insect repellent. This free, one-day workshop will help new and improving photographers learn how to capture these meadows on camera.
The Elan Valley is home to many upland hay meadows, including a coronation meadow – all of which are a wonderful sight in full bloom.
It is a wonderful place to take photographs, in order to preserve some of that beauty. The workshop will focus on outdoor photography, delving into the basics of landscapes, meadows, flowers and wildlife photographs.

Join our Rangers at one of our big Dam Open Days - an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. Turn up anytime between 1pm and 4pm.
You’ll enjoy a bird's-eye view of the dam – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.
Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance.
There are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels.
Children should be carefully supervised at all times.
Minimum entry £1 for adults and children.

Rhayader Art Group's "Summer Exhibition" showcases their range of talents with all original artwork for sale. Prints and greetings cards also available.

Join Sorcha Lewis on a traditional upland hill farm in the heart of the Elan valley to learn about how much diverse wildlife is cared for by our upland farming community. We will look at some rare species and habitats that are being cared for on the Elan Valley Estate. Meet at Gwaelod y Rhos car park SN 902673.

Come along to the Visitor Centre to design, manufacture and launch your own rocket.
