Events in the Elan Valley for September 2008

2 Tues Children’s Critter Crafts

Come along on this children’s event and make something to take home. Turn up anytime between 2 and 4pm at the Visitor Centre. No unaccompanied children please.

 

7 Sun Village Tour

A very easy one mile walk to look at the history of Caban Coch Dam, Workers’ Village and surrounding features. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2pm, back about 3.30pm.

 

13 Sat Mammal Mayhem

A whole day devoted to the elusive mammals of the Elan Valley. Displays, animal crafts, free fact sheets, how to record and encouraging mammals into our garden, A Ranger will be on hand to offer expertise. Suitable for all. Open from 10.30am to 4pm at the Visitor Centre.

 

14 Sun  Caban Ramble

A 3 mile guided walk looking at the history and natural history of the area. A steady climb of 170m over 1.5miles. Meet at Llannerch y Cawr car park at 2pm (or at Visitor Centre at 1.45pm for a lift to start), back about 5pm.

 

20 Sat - 21 Sun Craft Weekend

An exhibition by the group Platform One, which includes artists, wood turners, potters, spinners and weavers, photographers and sculptors. Open from 10am to 5.30pm at the Visitor Centre.

 

21 Sat Pen y Garreg Circular

A 3 mile guided walk to look at the history and natural history of the area, with lovely scenery from above Pen y Garreg Dam. There is a long climb of 250m over about 1.5 miles. Meet at Penbont car park at 2pm (or at Visitor Centre at 1.45pm for a lift to the start), back about 5pm.
