16 Sat An Introduction to Photography Using a Digital Camera

The day is designed for people who wish to learn more about photography using a digital camera.  The emphasis will be on practical ways of improving both technique and results. 

There will also be an outdoor session [weather permitting] followed by an opportunity to discuss issues and problems resulting from the visit.

The day will be led by David and Catherine Clarke who have held a number of photographic exhibitions locally, including at the Visitor Centre.

17 Sun The Mighty Drygarn

A moderate 9 mile hillwalk to the spectacular summit of Drygarn Fawr at 2104 ft (641m). Ascent of 380m with some rough ground! Meet at Llannerch y Cawr car park at 10am, back about 4.30pm.

23 Sat – 31 Sun Autumn Antics

Call into the Visitor Centre anytime between 11am and 4pm to pick up your collecting bag with instructions about what to do. A prize awaits you on your return. Entry 50p per child. This is a family event - no unaccompanied children please.

24 Sat Feed the Birds Day

Celebrate British birds by giving them a helping hand this winter. Join the Rangers in making bird feeders and bird cake. Turn up anytime between 11am and 4pm at the Visitor Centre.

The final chance this year for you to go into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. Our team of Rangers will be on hand to direct people and answer any questions.


There are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels. Children should be carefully supervised at all times.


Park at Penbont car park and take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance.


Dam open from 1pm to 4pm. Entrance £1 - children free. All proceeds to the charity WaterAid.

30 Sat Fungus Foray

Come along on this short walk to look at the fascinating world of fungi with Ray Woods of Plantlife. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2pm, back around 5pm.

31 Sun Halloween Spooky Crafts

Come along and make your own scary accessories and decorations in time for Halloween. Drop in anytime between 10 and 12 or 2 and 4pm at the Visitor Centre. This is a family event - no unaccompanied children please.
