Educational visits are FREE OF CHARGE!

The Elan Estate in mid Wales is jointly administered by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and the Elan Valley Trust, with the education programme supported by the Countryside Council for Wales. The Estate comprises over 70 square miles of spectacular scenery, including moorland, woodland, rivers and six dams with their associated reservoirs.

There is also a large Visitor Centre, which has an exhibition hall showing the natural history of the Estate and its management, the water scheme, the building of the dams and hydro-electric power. There is an audiovisual display about the Elan Valley, information desk and shop as well as a café and public toilets.

All these facilities are open all year for pre-booked educational groups and to the public from mid March until early November.

We are happy to arrange the visit/s around the activities and topics shown on the programmes. If you would like to develop your own programme for a school visit or study group, we would be pleased to offer our assistance and facilities.

There are no charges for educational visits.

If your school has never visited the Elan Valley before, you may be eligible for help towards your transport costs, please contact the Education Ranger for further details!
