Objective 2: Target habitat management for key species as identified by the landscape character action plan
2a – Elan Rare Birds
In recent years the numbers of rare upland breeding birds, such as Golden Plover, Red Grouse, Ring Ouzel & Curlew have been declining dramatically. Elan is a safe haven for these birds, and has a key role of safeguarding the population of these rare birds. By working with the RSPB, Natural Resources Wales and landowners this project will allow habitat management action to be taken. Demonstration days on management techniques will be held as well as wider volunteering days for the general public.
2b – Elan Rare Species
Elan is also a haven to a number of many rare species and to ensure that these species survive there is a need for better species specific targeted habitat management. We will work with a number of partners and the general public to build farmer and community knowledge, interest and pride in these rare species, ensuring they are protected and cared for in the future.
